About
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science began as Hindustan College of Engineering in 1985 and became a deemed university in 2008. The main campus at Padur on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) lies south of the city near Kelambakkam, with hostels and laboratories on site; a city campus is located at Guindy.
The institute is particularly known for aeronautical, aerospace and automobile engineering, alongside computer science and its specialisations, electronics, mechanical and civil engineering. It also offers architecture, BBA, B.Com, BCA, MBA, MCA, law, science and liberal arts. Admission to engineering is through the institute's own entrance examination and merit routes.
