About
SRMIST began as SRM Engineering College in 1985 and became a deemed university in 2002. The Kattankulathur campus, about 45 kilometres south of central Chennai on the GST Road, is a self-contained township with hostels, hospitals, sports facilities and its own suburban railway station. Additional campuses at Ramapuram and Vadapalani lie within the city.
Engineering is the core: B.Tech in computer science and its specialisations (AI and machine learning, data science, cyber security, cloud computing), electronics, mechanical and civil engineering, with M.Tech at postgraduate level. The university also runs BBA, B.Com, BCA, B.Sc, MBA, MCA, law, architecture, nursing and allied health programmes. B.Tech admission is through the SRMJEEE entrance examination and JEE Main scores as applicable, with an online counselling process.
